In memory of David, a very special father to Sam & Kerry and loving husband to Daphne. He adored all his grandchildren and his little dog Zara. A wonderful man who will be so missed. Thank you to all the people who helped him. Best wishes, Nic xxx

David and I both worked at Saville Tractors Ltd for many years. We had many days out together servicing Lister engines and generating sets. I remember one particular day (late 70’s early 80’s) we had an early start to service a generator at the Nant-y-moch reservoir in Mid Wales. When we arrived at the dam the road across it was closed so we had to take a detour via the road below to get to the other side. I was driving, the road was steep, narrow, sharp bends and very wet. Going round one particular bend the rear of the van started to slide one wheel came off the road and we were stuck. Now for those who don’t know this is quite a remote area few properties and very little traffic. Fortunately after around 10 to 15 minutes a Landrover came along and helped us out.
After repairing the generator the owner suggested we take an alternative route back, a very dense fog had now descended. We were told the road was very steep and narrow but if we kept to the left hand side of the road we would be fine. Once we got to a lower level there was no fog.
It was only on a subsequent visit I found out that on the right side of that foggy road was a shear drop of several hundred feet with no safety barrier! Happy Days!
David was a good friend and colleague during my days at Saville Tractors Ltd
